Motorists are advised to plan for an overnight lane closure as Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency contractors undertake work at Takitimu Drive Toll Road.
One lane of SH29/Takitimu Drive Toll Road will be closed from 8pm tonight until 6am tomorrow.
A detour will be in place via Cambridge/Moffat Road between SH29 and SH2, for people heading towards the Tauranga CBD and Port, says a spokesperson for the roading agency.
"We plan to complete the works in one night, although will use Thursday as contingency.
"The work to install site accesses and barriers is part of enabling works underway for the Takitimu North Link project.
"There is a large volume of work underway close by, including at the Tauranga end of SH2 north, where a 500m section of Takitimu Drive under the Waihī Road overbridge is undergoing repairs and a drainage upgrade."
Road rehabilitation works have also re-commenced on SH29 and SH24 on the Waikato-side of the Kaimai Range this week.
NZTA says there will be alternating one-way closures today and tomorrow.
"During the alternating closures, westbound (Waikato bound) traffic may travel across the Kaimai Range between 9pm and 12.30am, and eastbound (Bay of Plenty bound) traffic between 1am and 4.30am. Full road closures will be in place on Sunday, January 23, and Monday, January 24."
