UPDATE: A SunLive reporter at the scene says a tow truck has arrived with Marine Parade expected to be clear shortly after a car flipped earlier today.
The accident took place between Banks Avenue and Pacific Avenue in wet weather just before 9am this morning.
"Police are at the scene conducting traffic management," says the reporter.
"Rowe Motors have just arrived so the road should be clear in about 15 minutes."
EARLIER 9.38am: A road block is in place in Mount Maunganui following a car crash earlier this morning.
Police have blocked off the road at intersection of Banks Avenue and Marine Parade as a car is currently on its roof on Marine Parade, according to Tauranga City Council.
Police confirm they were notified of a single-vehicle collision on that road at 8.57am.
'There are no reported injuries,” says a police spokesperson.

Very interesting how any driver can end up with their car on it's roof on a straight piece of road in a 30km/h speed zone especially if they are driving to the conditions - rain. The mind boggles.

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps they need to reduce the speed limit . . . MORE. Quite obviously it's too fast. It couldn't possibly be the drivers fault. Actually with all due respect we don't know the cause but to get onto the roof at 30kmh on a straight . . .

Its common knowledge that NZ drivers are some of the worst in the world, but how could you flip a car at 30KPH!
