Three seriously injured in Rotorua disorder

Police were called to the incieent at 2.30am on Sunday.

Three people have been seriously injured in a disorder in the Bay of Plenty.

Cars and a fence were also damaged in the incident in Rotorua.

Police were called to a 'disorder event” on Tania Crescent in Western Heights about 2.30am on Sunday, says Rotorua field crime manager inspector Lindsay Pilbrow.

'There were multiple areas where activity had taken place and a number of injured people who had been assaulted.”

Several vehicles and a fence were damaged, and the offenders fled the scene in vehicles before officers arrived at the scene.

Three people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

One person was still in hospital on Monday.

'We want to reassure the public that we take this behaviour extremely seriously,” says Pilbrow.

Officers are continuing to investigate what happened, and urge anyone who witnessed the incident or took footage to contact police.
