Police are preparing for more protesters to arrive as the demonstration at Parliament enters its fourth day.

Tensions rose yesterday as the protest against Covid-19 vaccine mandates continued, with police arresting 122 people who refused to leave Parliament grounds.

About a dozen police were on site this morning and a few dozen protesters are up and about on the grounds.

More barriers have been put up on the protest site on the lawn, and last night police installed floodlights on the forecourt.

They say it will take some time to remove everyone but Wellington District Commander Superintendent Corrie Parnell has promised the demonstrators will not be on the grounds for another week.

More reinforcements are being brought in to join the 1000 officers already available.

A number of roads around the area remain blocked.

One arrest was made at a smaller, related protest in Christchurch yesterday.

Spin machine

The spin machine is in full swing. Label them all as anti vaxxers and yobs. Move shade off the hypocrisy of Hipkins and throw it onto National and ACT. Spin, spin, spin. It's spinning out of control. This Government is done and I don't believe the polls for one second.

this could all end

with one simple move, end the mandates, the testing, the vaccine roll out and the stupid traffic light system. Let us get back to normal without government interference in our private health choices.

Time

To bring in the Army and move these morons on. Whose calling the shots here, authorities or protesters because ignoring the law, erecting more tents and shelters after being trespassed, still on 'closed' grounds . . . It appears the protesters are calling the shots. Bring in the Army and move the morons on.

What do they expect to happen?

Can the demonstrators seriously think that policy will be changed by their protest? That's not going to happen and they must know it isn't. So, after 4 days, their position is clear. All they are doing now is disrupting people from trying to get on with their lives during a Pandemic. It's time to go home...

Morepork Makes Great Comment

Morepork makes a great comment. As usual, so well worded. I love his ending, It's time to go home . . . Come on protesters, we get it but now it's time to go home. All you're doing now is #issing people off. You're not speaking for NZ, you're a minority that's made your point, now go home. You're going to end up stuffing up your own lives and your kids DO NOT BELONG HERE and neither do they have an understanding of it. Don't 'use' them as pawns in your agenda. GO HOME.
