The Bay of Plenty District Health Board is holding another round of drive-through and pop-up vaccination events this weekend, to increase booster vaccination rates.
Drive-through vaccination events are being held Saturday, February 19 at Tauranga's Trustpower Baypark from 10am to 3.30pm, and at Kawerau's Ron Hardie Recreation Centre from 10am to 3pm.
On Sunday, February 20, a pop-up clinic will be available at Fraser Cove Shopping Centre from 10am to 3pm.
BOPDHB Covid-19 programme senior responsible officer Brent Gilbert-De Rios invites all eligible community members to take part.
'Bring your aunties, uncles, parents, koro, nannies, grandparents, mokopuna, tamariki and the whole whanau aged five and up to get the best protection against Omicron this weekend,” he says.
First and second doses, boosters and vaccinations for children aged five and older are all available at these events, according to the Bay of Plenty DHB.
People aged 18 or older who have had their second Covid-19 vaccination at least three months ago are advised to have their booster dose as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Health reports that booster doses lower the chance of hospitalisation and the chances of getting very sick.
The Ministry of Health also recommends immunising children aged five and older against Covid-19 to keep them safe and to help protect their whānau and communities from the virus.
The child form of the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine is available to tamariki aged 5 to 11 years.
