A large ground search is being planned for the dunes in the Pāpāmoa Beach area as the search continues for David Holland.

David was last heard from on Friday, March 11.

Friends believe he was planning a swim close to home near the end of Pacific View Road, where there is access to Pāpāmoa Beach.

He was reported missing after he failed to show up for work at Tauranga Hospital.

This week, police have been searching the shoreline, sea and air.

So far the search has involved the use of drones to search nearby sand dunes, a fixed-wing aircraft and a number of ground teams along the coast. Local surf lifesaving clubs and Coastguard are also assisting, reports Stuff.

'Tomorrow a large ground search is planned and will involve several volunteers walking the sands dunes in the Pāpāmoa Beach area,” says a police spokesperson.

'Police would like to thank staff from Surf Life Saving NZ and Coastguard, as well as numerous volunteers who have assisted so far.

'To date nothing has been found that would give any clues as to David's whereabouts or movements.

'We are still asking to hear from anyone who might have seen David on the evening of Friday 11 March, especially on or around the beach.”

Anyone who can help should call 105 and quote file number 220312/6869.
