Manaia homicide victim named

Police are now able to name the man who died at a rural property in Manaia, Coromandel on Friday afternoon.

A homicide investigation is underway following the discovery of the body of Guy Richards, 43, of Manaia.

Police says that a post-mortem has been completed today, and a scene examination continues.

Police are following lines of enquiry into the circumstances of Mr Richards' death.

The homicide investigation was launched after the death of a man at a rural property on Manaia Road when police arrived at 12.31pm on Friday.

"Another male was taken to hospital in a critical condition," says Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley.

On Friday Police said they are were not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

The scene examination being carried out by Police is expected to last several days.
