A vehicle has crashed down a bank near Matapihi this afternoon.

Photos sent to SunLive shows the vehicle appears to have crashed through some fencing near the railway tracks on Matapihi Road, west of Girven Road.

St John Paramedics are at the scene and police and fire have also been called.

Motorists are being advised to expect delays in the area.
