Police report that one person was sent to Tauranga Hospital with injuries following an incident early on Saturday morning.

Police received a report of an assault at around 3am on Saturday.

"One person presented to hospital with injuries," says a Police spokesperson.

SunLive readers noticed that there was Police tape and Police guarding an area along the waterfront on Dive Crescent on Saturday morning.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish how this person came to be injured," says a Police spokesperson.
