The Ministry of Health are today reporting 6,635 community cases of Covid-19, 400 hospitalisations and six deaths.
The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers is 7,972 – last Saturday it was 7,595.
"Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of six people with Covid-19," says a Ministry of Health spokesperson.
"These deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with Covid-19 to 1,045 and the seven-day rolling average of reported deaths is 13.
"Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; two were from the Auckland region and one each from Northland, Taranaki, Canterbury and the Southern region.
"One person was in their 60s, two were in their 70s, two were in their 80s and one was over 90.
"Of these people, two were women and four were men.
"This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them.
"Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths."
There are 400 cases in hospital around the country today with 10 in Northland; Waitemata: 38; Counties Manukau: 39; Auckland: 80; Waikato: 38; Bay of Plenty: 10; Lakes: 2; Tairāwhiti: 1; Hawke's Bay: 14; Taranaki: 12; Whanganui: 4; MidCentral: 11; Wairarapa: 2; Hutt Valley: 5; Capital and Coast: 17; Nelson Marlborough: 8; Canterbury: 61; South Canterbury: 10; West Coast: 2; Southern: 36.
The average age of current hospitalisations is 61 and there are 12 cases in ICU or HDU.

Please note, the Ministry of Health's daily reported cases may differ slightly from those reported at a DHB or local public health unit level. This is because of different reporting cut off times and the assignment of cases between regions, for example when a case is tested outside their usual region of residence. Total numbers will always be the formal daily case tally as reported to the WHO.
