The Ministry is reporting 370 current hospitalisations today.

The Ministry of Health is reporting another 16 deaths of people with Covid-19 as it releases the daily statistics for the current Covid outbreak.

There are also 4869 community cases being reported, along with 370 current hospitalisations.

The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers today is 5247 – last Friday, it was 6075, says a statement from the Mnistry.

"Today we are sadly reporting the deaths of 16 people with Covid-19. All these deaths occurred in the past seven days, apart from one death on May 11 and one death on April 23.

"Today's reported deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with Covid-19 to 1390 and the seven-day rolling average of reported deaths is 12."

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; two were from Northland, six were from the Auckland region, one was from Waikato; one was from Taranaki; two were from the Wellington region; three were from Canterbury; and one was from South Canterbury.

One person was in their 40s; one was in their 60s; four were in their 70s; eight were in their 80s; and two were aged over 90. Of these people, four were women and 12 were men.

"This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them. Out of respect, we will be making no further comment on these deaths."
