Four popular performers take to the stage at TOTARA STREET this afternoon showcasing their music live.
Satellite Sessions spokesperson Nick Newman says they are excited to finally hold the first Satellite Session at the 11 Totara Street, Mount Maunganui venue.
'A year of shows has seen some big growth in the scope of the project, despite some of the setbacks we all have faced,” says Nick.
Satellite Sessions Satellite Sessions is an original music concert series, designed to show the best of the talented artists here in the Bay of Plenty.
The artists performing at the TOTARA STREET show which starts at 2.30pm on Sunday 17 are Sophie-Maude, France Ellen, Geoff Ong and Nick Herbison.
Born and raised in Tauranga, Sophie-Maude makes music that is driven by a desire to motivate, inspire and tell her story her way. By drawing from her own life experiences and coping with autism, ADHD, OCD and Tourette's syndrome, she articulates stories and shared perspectives that connect with audiences across the spectrum.
Frances Ellen is bringing her collection of songs to life with a backing band of local legends. Her music has been described as soulful, piano-driven melodic pop. A music teacher by profession, Frances has lived and breathed music all her life.
Geoff Ong says he wants to be a pop star for dorks. Over the last three years, Geoff has been building a career as an independent artist in New Zealand - cultivating a passionate fan base through a combination of online engagement, electric live performances, and his own brand of quirky pop song writing.
Nick Herbison is an acoustic singer-songwriter based in Hawkes Bay. With strong influences from folk, blues and alt-rock, his music revolves around acoustic guitar and thoughtful lyricism.
'[We are] going to put couches and beanbags on the dance floor, plants and rugs onstage. Come and check out the vibe and the music,” says Nick.
Doors open at 2.30pm with the show starting at 3pm. The show is rated R18 unless accompanied by parent or caregiver.
