Emergency maintenance work on two large pine trees at the Fraser Street entrance of Tutarawānanga - Yatton Park will take place as soon as possible, says a statement made by Tauranga City Council. "One of the pines recently fell and blocked one of the walkways within Yatton Park. Due to the disturbance of soil and as a precautionary measure, the immediate area around the remaining trees has been closed off," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson. "To ensure public safety, contractors are working to secure the area and the Fraser Street entrance and car park is closed to public access, however the rest of the park remains open. "Tauranga City Council staff and contractors are assessing what works are required to make the remaining trees on site safe. The work is likely to involve pruning large tree limbs and possibly the removal of some trees. "These are large trees and the works may take some time, the area around the trees will remain closed the works are complete."
