A blown fuse seems to be the cause of a power outage in a Tauranga suburb.

Powerco was alerted to a power cut affecting four customers on Levers Road, Matua at 4.57am.

A field crew was dispatched to site to replace a fuse and power was restored at 6:53am, says a Powerco spokesperson.

This week Powerco has over 30 planned outages across the Tauranga area, including Mount Maunganui, to conduct work including replacing poles and cross arms, trimming trees and replacing pillar boxes.

Its gas pipeline networks are in Taranaki, Hutt Valley, Porirua, Wellington, Horowhenua, Manawatu and Hawke's Bay.
