The Bay of Plenty Steamers squad hitout against the BOP Wasps at the Rotorua International Stadium on Tuesday, resulting in a 59-7 victory to the ITM Cup squad contenders.

The Steamers fired from the first whistle, to run in three tries in the opening 15 minutes to lead 33 nil at the break.

They went on to post a nine try victory, however, development squad member Gareth Cossey crossed in the second half for a Wasps touchdown.

The Steamers tries were awarded to Lance MacDonald (3) Tristam Moran, Mafi Kefu, Warren Smith, Greg Pleasants Tate, Josh Hall and Jack Wilson.

The Steamers squad have little time for rest, before they back-up in their last pre-season assignment against a North Harbour selection, at Katikati on Friday afternoon.
