UPDATE: State Highway 5 near Rotorua is reported to be clear now.

NZTA had previously reported that the highway, between Rotorua and Waiotaphu, was affected by multiple slips.

The latest alert from the agency's roading contractors states the issue is now "resolved".

EARLIER:

Regular users of State Highway 5 are being warned of multiple slips on the highway.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency reports the stretch of road between Rotorua to Waiotapu is affected.

"Due to multiple slips, lanes are partially blocked on SH5 south of Waikite Valley Rd.

"Please drive with care and follow directions of response crews on site."

The Bay of Plenty has seen significant roading issues due to weather over the weekend and on Monday, and roading crews have been working around the clock to get to everything fixed.
