A truck convoy for a funeral being held today is likely to cause delays on State Highway 29, warns Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency
Road users are being asked to account for the delays on the highway between Tauriko and the Lower Kaimai area, between 11am to 1pm.
"Please adjust your travel time," says a spokesperson for the roading agency.
A Facebook post on Bay of Plenty & Waikato Accidents and Traffic Information says the traffic will be heading from "Welcome Bay to Te Poi around 11ish".
"Plan your trip accordingly if you will be affected, and show respect to the family and friends of the person who has passed," says the post.

I understand this is a funeral and my heart goes out to family and friends at this sad time. However, trucks should not be allowed to travel in convoy on a state highway and especially such as the Kaimai's.

The participants are showing respect for someone they knew but no respect for people using the roads . Thousands of people using the road to just get on with their day. That they are in a funeral is fine but surely they can travel at intervals that allows people to get by. Hope no emergency vehicles are not stuck or people connecting to flights or missing important meetings or family.
