Sunny weather with light winds for Bay of Plenty

A large high pressure system covers New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, says a WeatherWatch spokesperson.

"Still a few showers to clear in the far north though and one or two possible this morning for North Westland and Buller."

For Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty the expected highs will range from 17 to 19 degrees Celsius.

"Waikato and Bay of Plenty have sunny weather with light winds," says a WeatherWatch spokesperson. "Morning cloud clears Auckland to a sunny day,

"Northland has cloud and a few showers - more so in the east. Showers clear in the afternoon and remaining cloud clears in the evening. Winds from the east."

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, a frosty start inland. Light winds, possibly tending onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-18

Eastern North Island
Morning cloud clears to sunny skies, southerly quarter winds ease and die out in the evening.
Highs: 15-17

Wellington
Sunny, light northerlies develop in the morning.
High: 14-17

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, morning cloud for Nelson breaks away. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-19

Canterbury
Sunny, light morning frosts inland. East to northeasterly winds develop especially about the coast.
Highs: 15-20

West Coast
Sunny for South Westland, a few afternoon clouds. Some morning cloud further north with the risk of a light shower then sunny spells increase in the afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago
Chance of a light frost then sunny, light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-23
