Reports are coming in of a crash on the Maungatapu Bridge.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says it looks like at least four cars are involved.

"They looked totalled and are smoking.

"Emergency services have been called."

Google's live traffic reporting show traffic is stalled in the area.

People are advised to avoid the area.
