Armed police have been spotted in Otumoetai this afternoon.

SunLive readers have emailed in saying the armed offenders squad and other armed officers are on the top of Grange Road, where it intersects with Otumoetai Road.

"There were at a house down Grange Road but seem to be spreading wider.

"Scary stuff,"

Another reader says there are "armed police everywhere".

"Grange Road is blocked off by police," says a reader who mesaages SunLive's Facebook apge.

"Police standing there holding a gun turning us around and ambo sitting there on standby."
