Police have taken one man into custody after he reportedly "refused to leave a property" on Grange Road during a pre-planned search warrant today, according to a police spokesperson.

"The incident was resolved after staff negotiated with the man and arrested him without injury," says the spokesperson.

This comes as members of the public spotted armed police officers in Otumoetai earlier today.

"Police would like to thank members of the public who allowed Police to carry out this operation safely and respected road closures around the scene.

"Charges are being considered and the man will appear in Tauranga District Court in due course."
