THE WAIHI LADIES SECTION - 'PLAYED FOR PINK”:
On Wednesday and Saturday the Waihi ladies turned the course into a sea of pink by all wearing outfits ranging from the elegant to wacky wigs and hats. They were all 'Playing for Pink” in aid of the Breast Cancer Foundation.
The winning team on Wednesday was 'Play I N Kindness”, while on Saturday 'Four K's took top spot. Denise Donald, Jacquie Bain, and Heather Waters boosted their team results by all scoring in excess of 40 stableford points.
Karen Roche's (our Club vice-president) magnificent effort in playing the entire round in a frilly pink tutu saw her awarded the 'best Dressed” award, with team prizes going to 'Breast is Best” and 'Done our Breast”
A great two days with fun prizes and a great raffle table, all together enabled the ladies to raise a fantastic $602.00 towards the vital work of the Breast Cancer Foundation.
The 'Dreamers Player of the Week” was Susan Mustard with 67 nett, on a countback from Jacquie Bain.

MONDAY VETS:
A small field of vets played a stableford haggle on Labour Day Monday. A fine day, but still with the persistent wind, saw Rodger Bagshaw win with 38 points, ahead of Maurice Joyce with 37. Jenny O'Dwyer, Allen Smith, Rae Brown, Adele Gunning, and Anke Hermannsdorfer all recorded 36 points. Allen Smith, and John Saunders scored two's.
TUESDAY NINE HOLE SECTION:
A good field of 29 players contested a mixed stableford competition, and Lynda Thomson came in at the top of the field with 22 points. Next were Carole Hambleton with 18 points, and Christine Mercer, and Jill Morrison who both scored 17 points. Then eight other players all came in with 16 points, with a further 4 players next with 15.
HUME'S MONTHLY MEATPACK TOURNAMENT:
Almost perfect conditions, with one of the warmest days this spring, set the scene for this month's event. The major winners were, in the Gross, Andy Roche with a 75 finished one shot ahead of Murray Fraser. In the nett Sean Brenssell with 66 nett won on a countback from Howard Anderson, but Howard's 42 stableford points enabled him to win the Stableford competition. For the rest of the field, in division 1, Chris Pilmer with 39 points, who headed off Nic Davies, Richard Taitoko on 37 points, while Terry Gerbich had 36. In division 2, Peter Wright, with 39 points, finished just in front of Greg Bundle and Peter Dagg who both recorded 38 points. Next were Willie Lynch and David Campbell with 37, while Mike Rose, Jill Morrison, and Denise Morgan all had 36 points.
MEN”S SECTION:
Held their section AGM on Saturday morning. Andy Roche (Captain), and Wilson McGillivray (Secretary) were both returned unopposed. To complete the day, after golf, the trophies won over the year for the various men's competitions were presented to the recipients by the Club President Daryll Denyer.
The results of the day's stableford haggle were in division 1, the winner was Daryll Denyer with 37 points, on a countback from the extremely unlucky Frank Van Hattum. Next were Jason Baldwin, Wilson McGillivray, and Richard Taitoko with 36, and the Chris Pilmer with 35. In division 2, Des John's enjoyed his round of the year by scoring 40 points, just heading off Gary Towler on 39. Tom Rowbotham and Peter Wright both scored 38, while Ken Purcell and Jock Stronach had 37.
