While the five Bay of Plenty representative teams produced a mixed bag of results on Saturday, they all received good workouts for their respective Northern Region competition campaigns that kick off next weekend.
The Bay Development side had a good workout against their Taranaki counterparts, in the Steamers curtain raiser at Baypark.
After opening the scoring they went on to lead 24-17 at the half time break.

A 34 all draw was the result of the Under 20 match-up, between the Bay representatives and Taranaki Under 20.
In order to save travel expenses for both teams, the match was played midway between the two provinces, at Otorohanga.
The Bay 18's had a taste of pressure they are likely to experience in the Northern Region competition, going down to a strong Auckland Blue side 36-3.
The Bay of Plenty Under 16 A team won their annual fixture with Hawkes Bay in Taupo, squeezing past their early season rivals 24-21.
Head coach Brendan Webby said it was good game to gauge where they are at and they definitely found areas to work on, before the Northern Region competition kicks off.
Bay of Plenty Under 16 second fifteen emerged from their warm-up encounter with Thames Valley with a significant victory.
The 28-5 win showed that they are well primed for the Northern Region Under 16 competition.
