Update, 9pm: State Highway 1 is still closed following a truck crash between Taupo and Turangi early on Sunday.

"It is expected to remain closed well in to the evening," says a police spokesperson.

Police were called about 4.30am to the scene of a truck crash between Waitapu Raod and Te Heuheu Road.

Update, 4.10pm: Police say that State Highway 1 remains closed on Sunday afternoon due to a truck crash between Taupo and Turangi.

"[It] is expected to be closed for some time yet," says a Police spokesperson.

"Diversions are in place."

Police were called about 4.30am to the scene of a truck crash between Waitapu Raod and Te Heuheu Road.

There have been no serious injuries.

Update, 11.15am: Police say that State Highway 1 at Motutere between Taupo and Turangi will remain closed for some time following a truck crash early Sunday morning.

"It is going to be a long delay unfortunately - the road may be closed for some time yet," says a police spokesperson.

Police were called about 4.30am to the scene of a truck crash located between Waitapu Raod and Te Heuheu Road.

Emergency services have been called to the scene of a truck crash on State Highway 1 at Motutere between Taupo and Turangi.

Police were called about 4.30am.

The truck crash location is between Waitapu Raod and Te Heuheu Road.

There have been no serious injuries.

The road may be closed for some time, and diversions are in place.

Motorists travelling through the area should expect delays and take an alternate route if possible.
