UPDATE 11.46am: Emergency services are responding to a house fire in Aongatete.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says crews responded at 11.32am.

A local says police "closed the road" during the event.

"One fire truck is currently at the scene," says the spokesperson.

EARLIER 11.29am: A house fire is being reported in Katikati.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there is a large house fire on Wright Road.

They say firefighters have been called.
