A power outage is being reported in Tauriko.

Powerco says around 159 properties are affected by the outage.

A site investigation is underway into the cause of the outage, says a post on the power company's website.

Power is also reported to be out in the Omanawa area.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says it looks like a vehicle, possible a truck, may have crashed into a power pole near Gargan Road.

"There is a power pole that has been knocked over but no vehicles on the scene."

Traffic is delayed in the area and people are warned to expect delays.

A police spokesperson says they received a report of a vehicle hitting a power pole.

"Bt appears perhaps the vehicle has continued on as it looks like emergency services were having trouble locating anything."
