A pod of orca have been spotted in the Tauranga Harbour this morning.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says they were heading to work along the Turret Road Bridge, when they saw the pod.

"I saw one breach on the Fraser Cove side of the bridge and then it went back under the water. We have seen it since.

"There are heaps on the other side of the bridge."

The caller says its is an outgoing tide and there are concerns the orca might get stuck.

People who see the orca and want to take a photo are advised to pull over in an area where they will not be blocking traffic as many people will be heading to work this morning.

If you happen to have a photo, please email it to newsroom@thesun.co.nz

Orca typically come into the harbour to feed on stingrays in the shallower water.
