The Katikati Lions Christmas Parade and Christmas in the Park on Saturday December 3 have been a combined massive happy success with huge crowds turning up for the festive events, say the organisers.
Crowds lined Carisbrooke Street to watch the Katikati Lions Christmas Parade of decorated floats, including 13 vintage tractors and Santa with his reindeer bringing up the rear.
The parade made its way to Moore Park for further festivities at Christmas in the Park, which included live music from Jake and White Goat, craft and food stalls, and kids' activities.

The float parade featured entries from Girl Guides, Project Parore, Katikati Fire Brigade and Katikati Pony Club.
First prize for best float went to Sea Scouts. Birchwood Packhouse came second, and third prize was awarded to Katikati Rugby Club.
A steampunk float also received special recognition.
An estimated 2,000 people enjoyed the afternoon beneath cloudy skies.

'We're thrilled with the turnout,” says Katch Katikati Events Manager and Christmas in the Park organiser Kirst O'Rourke.
'Our community was obviously keen to enjoy some festive cheer after missing out last year and even the weather behaved for us.”
