Aerocool Rescue Helicopter‘s life-saving missions

The Aerocool Rescue Helicopter has carried out 25 life-saving missions over the month of November.

These life-saving missions included seven inter-hospital transfers, eight medical events, six rural and farm related incidents and four motor-vehicle accidents.

The helicopter was commonly spotted in Tauranga with four inter-hospital transfers from Tauranga Hospital, and three missions to both Matakana Island and Waihi, with two missions to Katikati. As well as this, there were four missions to the Coromandel during November.

The month started off with the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter responding to a callout in Waihi on November 2, for a woman in her 20s who was suffering from pregnancy difficulties. The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.

On Saturday evening, November 5, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Waihi for a man in his 30s who had sustained multiple injuries after being involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. The patient was in critical condition and was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.

On Tuesday afternoon, November 8, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Waihi for a man in his 80s who was suffering from a cardiac arrest and was in critical condition. The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.

On Sunday night, November 13, it was a longer flight for the helicopter, up to Cape Runaway for a man in his 60s who was suffering from a critical medical event. The patient was flown to Whakatane Hospital for further treatment.

An even longer flight was needed on Tuesday morning, November 15, when the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Whangarei for a man in his 50s who had sustained head injuries while working on his farm. The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.

The next day, the helicopter crew transported a female in her 60s from Tauranga Hospital. The patient had suffered a serious medical event and was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.

On Thursday night, November 24, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Matakana Island for a man in his 70s who was suffering from respiratory distress. The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment. That next night, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched back to Matakana Island for a woman in her 60s who as suffering from a medical event. She was also flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.

The month's rescues weren't quite over yet.

On Saturday afternoon, November 26, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Whangamata for a young boy who had sustained injuries after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.

On Saturday night, November 26, it was time to head back to Matakana Island again, this time for a man in his 80s who was suffering from a medical emergency. The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.

On Sunday morning, November 27, the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Waiotahe for a woman in her 20s who had suffered critical injuries after being involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.

With the Christmas season just around the corner for New Zealand, kiwis will be out and about making the most of this warm weather and sunshine, says the Aerocool Rescue Helicopter crew.
