Road closures in place around Bay Dreams

Bay Dreams is set to rock Trustpower Baypark today with 11,000 people.

The day is expected to be busy on the city's roads with road closures occurring in the area to keep festival-goers safe and help manage traffic congestion.

To keep festival goers safe, and help manage traffic congestion, some roads will be closed to all vehicles except festival buses.

For those residents wanting to discard rubbish and recycling, access to Te Maunga transfer station will be maintained during station opening hours, via Mangatawa Link Road/Sandhurst Rd

Bay Dreams road closures - Tuesday, January 3 to Wednesday, January 4:

  • Truman Lane:
    • Entry and exit from Truman Lane to SH29A will be closed.
    • Truman Lane closed between Te Maunga interchange (SH29A) and Tip Lane, from 7am Tuesday 3 January to 7am Wednesday 4 January. (access to Te Maunga transfer station will be maintained during station opening hours, via Mangatawa Link Road/Sandhurst Rd)
    • Truman Lane will be closed between Mangatawa Link Road and Tip Lane from 5.30pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January. This closure will extend up to Sandhurst from 8pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January (in-line with SH2 closure).
  • SH2 will be closed between Te Maunga interchange (SH29A) and Sandhurst Drive, in both directions (heading towards Papamoa and Mount Maunganui), from 8pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January.
  • Exeter Street – entry and exit from SH2 closed from 7pm Tuesday 3 January to 1am Wednesday 4 January.

Waka Kotahi NZTA advise motorists to expect delays on State Highway 2 between SH2 and SH29A between 7am Tuesday January 3 to 7am Wednesday January 4.

Tauranga City Council says that resident access will be maintained when safe to do so.

"This event may cause disruption to the normal running of public transport bus services," says a council spokesperson.

"We advise you to check the website www.baybus.co.nz or call the freephone call centre 0800 4 BAYBUS for more information."
