Ticket holders for Tauranga's cancelled 'Juicy Fest' may experience delays waiting for their refund this week.
According to event promoter Glenn Meikle, refund delays can be attributed to "hold ups" from the event organisers insurance process.
"Our event was fully insured, so we're waiting on our end too. As soon as we receive our payment, we can get the refunds back to the customers," says Glenn.
Juicy Fest Tauranga was scheduled to begin on Friday, January 6, but was called off due to dangerous weather conditions.
According to Glenn, around 15,000 people had purchased tickets.
On the day of cancellation, event organisers gave a window of 14 business days for refunds to be processed. Today is the 15th business day after the refunds were promised.
Glenn says the process is a big job for their insurance provider, and ticket holders can "rest assured," as the refunds will be processed "as soon as possible".
"It was really unfortunate. Basically on the day the riggers couldn't get up because it was too windy. We can do shows in the rain, but setting up in windy weather is a lot more challenging for health and safety."
Glenn adds he hopes to bring something to Tauranga next year, as the rest of the Juicy Fest tour has been "very successful".
"We'll stay in communication with ticket holders. If you're a ticket holder, look out for an email as we will be in touch."
Ahead of the One Love festival, Glenn says organisers and promoters are "really looking forward" to the sold out event this weekend.
"We've still got more coming up, we're on to One Love this week. Last year we had to cancel it and had to go through the whole insurance process which took a long time as well.
"It was really gut wrenching last year to call One Love off, so we're really looking forward to this weekend to put it back on. A lot of businesses here really do well with all the people coming in so we're really stoked to have it back."
