Lisa Applegate loves live gigs, and is about to experience the trip of a lifetime.
The Tauranga woman was born with a disability making her wheelchair bound, and doesn't ever want to let it hold her back from experiencing live music.
Lisa has been to 'about 22” concerts during her time, and thanks to her driver at Driving Miss Daisy, Oscar Harper, she is able to fulfill her dream of seeing Elton John live in the flesh this weekend.
'I'll be driving her up and taking her back on Saturday night. I think I'll be getting home at about 2am. It's going to be a very fun night.” says Oscar.
Oscar, who has taken over the Bay of Plenty branch of the company for a little over a year, decided to take up the opportunity to take Lisa to Elton John as he 'knows how much she loves live music”.
'Whenever I usually drive Lisa around town, we always talk about concerts coming up. I think we'll be listening to some Elton John in the car on the way up too. There's a lot of excitement going on.”
Oscar's job typically involves driving clients from places like the supermarket or doctors to help those in need with their day-to-day errands.
Although this trip is far from a usual day at work, he is stoked to be able help provide Lisa with the opportunity to see one of her favourite artists in concert.

Lisa has been taking rides for about five years, and says there are many songs she is looking forward to hearing this weekend.
"I love the Tiny Dancer song because it reminds me to look at the positives in life," says Lisa.
"I also like the song 'I'm Still Standing' because it reminds me of my grandmother. When I was 12, she told me it was her favourite song."
She also wants to hear 'Your Song' as it features another one of her favourite artists, Ronan Keating.
Lisa says the best thing about concerts is "not thinking about" her disability, because in the crowd, she "just feels normal like everybody else".
"I forget about all my problems and challenges, and I can just be like everybody else. I love my music."
