Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency is giving the latest update on the State Highway 25A slip in the Coromandel.

"Our crews are carving a temporary path above the road to allow geotechnical engineers to gather soil samples from above the missing section of road," says a Facebook post by the agency.

"This work will help us determine the best way to restore the state highway

"We're currently looking at three options: Building a bridge to replace the lost section of road, building a road around the slip to bypass the lost section of road, or building a retaining wall and then rebuilding the road."

"We need good weather to do this work—we're hoping the tracks needed for access can be completed within two weeks."

For the latest on the road, and the option to sign up for updates via email, visit the Waka Kotahi SH25A page, https://www.nzta.govt.nz/projects/sh25-sh25a-thames-coromandel/.
