Lani Daniels has won against Sequita Hemingway in Auckland, becoming the first heavyweight female to win the 100-year-old ANBF Australasian title.

Her next stop is the IBF world title fight on May 27.

Some of New Zealand's best women boxers turned up to watch the fight between Lani and Sequita, including soon IBO World title contender Mea Motu, retired WBO World Light Heavyweight champion Geovana Peres and now soon-to-be Daniels World title opponent, Alrie Meleisea.

Geovana and Mea had helped Lani prepare for the fight, and Alrie made notes for their future fight ahead.

It was a tough fight between the two boxers. Lani looked slicked, using excellent head movement, forcing Sequita to miss, using her experience and making Sequita receive punishment when counterpunching.

Sequita, on the other hand, will be walking the majority of the fight, but when she got the chance she made Lani pay with punishing shots.

The fight card was not announced but experts including Boxing judge Benjamin Watt, Mea Motu and Vasco Kovačević all estimate the scores to be 77 - 75 with the winner being Lani Daniels. This means Lani on their scorecards won five out of the eight rounds of the fight, making it a close fight.

Lani now extends her record to 7 - 2 - 2 with the fourth title of her career. Unfortunately, the belt itself did not make it in time for the fight night, however, the title belt will arrive next week.

So what's next for both boxers?

Sequita Hemingway's team are looking to get back in the ring soon. The team has an event in August in Palmerston North, however, they would prefer to have Sequita have a fight before then. There is some interest from Sequita's team to fight against Trish Vaka, Nailini Helu, Ashley Campbell, Tinta Smith and Sarah Long.

As for Lani, with this win, she has booked her ticket for May 27 at Eventfinda Stadium on Aucklands North Shore against Alrie Meleisea for the IBF World Heavyweight title.

Over the next two weeks, the WBO World title might also be added into the mix as negotiations had begun to have that included. That fight will be televised on Sky Sports TV in New Zealand, and possibly FITE TV internationally.

First Lani will be heading to Hamilton to take a week off before heading back into training back with John Conway.

Not a New Zealand flag in sight. Shows where her loyalties lie. No support from me no matter how well she does.
