One person has been taken into custody on Saturday morning following an incident involving a duck in Whakatane.
Police responded to reports of a man being cruel to ducks in Whakatane around 9am.
Police say they arrived and located one male in possession of a knife, and a dead duck near Martin Place.
"One person has been taken into custody," says a police spokesperson.
Police say charges are being considered.

Bloody well SHOULD be! Unfortunately, for us and the ducks, this will probably be another wet bus ticket. I can't even begin to comprehend the kind of mind that would want to do this... I guess I don't have enough life experience.
