Armed police have blocked off a street in Hairini this morning.

A SunLive reader has messaged us on Facebook to say Haukore Street in Hairini is blocked off.

'Police and fire are not letting people through.

'Haukore Street is blocked off with armed police, people are being told to stay in their houses.

'Hubby tried to come home from night shift and police wouldn't let him in.”

A police spokesperson says police earlier received a report of someone getting into a vehicle with what was thought to be a firearm.

Police say there were no shots fired or injuries reported.

"Police are working to locate the vehicle and speak to the occupant."
