Moturiki will be closed for two days this coming week.

Moturiki, previously known as Leisure Island, will be temporarily closed on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 April, to allow for two days of vegetation control work.

This work is weather dependent.

Signage and barriers will be in place at closure points and are there to ensure public safety.

"We appreciate the community's patience as we undertake this important maintenance work," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

Non-coastal weeds on Leisure Island the place has to be CLOSED !! The simple fact is if the plants do not grow there naturally, then the will NOT last / grow !! (salt spray environment) ............ What happened to the "natural" re-generation of the “coastal” plants that has occurred for the last 65 years that I have been going out to the blowhole !! And finally WHO is paying the BILL ???
