SunLive readers are reporting huge traffic delays on State Highway 2 between Te Puna and Bethlehem.

"Traffic is just gridlock from the BP station at Te Puna," says a SunLive reader.

Waka Kotahi NZTA advise that kerb and channel work is being undertaken between Taniwha Pl and Wairoa Pa Rd.

The work which started on Tuesday May 2 is expected to be completed by May 14.

Working hours on this kerb and channel work are from 6am to 5pm daily.

There is shoulder closure only with a 50km/h temporary speed limit during working hours.

There is no detour route.

Road works are also in place on State Highway 2 between Totara Street and Aerodrome Road at Mount Maunganui, between Katikati to Tauranga, and between Peangaroa and Kaituna River on the Tauranga Eastern Link.

Me thinks there would be more carbon emissions today from crawling and static traffic than a completed bike lane would save forever. 30 mins from Gill lane to Bethlehem///
