A number of roads have been impacted by the storm that hit the Bay of Plenty overnight.
According to Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, State Highway 2 between Omokoroa and Tauranga remains closed this morning.
"Due to flooding and fallen trees, the road is closed for northbound traffic between Barrett Rd and Youngson Rd," says a post on the roading agency's website.
"The southbound lane is open. Expect delays and drive with caution."
A detour is in place and as follows: Northbound traffic: Left onto Barrett Rd, right onto Old Highway, right onto Youngson Rd, left onto SH2.
A section of State Highway 36 between Tauranga and Rotorua remains closed due to flooding between Jackson Road and Central Road.
Meanwhile, caution is advised on SH2 near Pongakawa due to flooding near Kiakokopu Road.
Caution is also advised on SH30, between Rotorua and Kawerau due to a slip near Lake Okataina and drop out west of Matahi Road.
NZTA reports that stop/go traffic remains in place at both sites.
The same advice applies for anyone travelling along SH2 near Matata and SH2 through the Karangahake Gorge due to surface flooding.
SunLive is working in getting more roading information and will provide an update when we can.
