Risky tree: Karangahake Gorge to close tomorrow

Motorists using the Karangahake Gorge are being advised to exercise caution.

A Waka Kotahi spokesperson says stop/go traffic management is ongoing on State Highway 2 between Paeroa and Waihi as contractors work to clear a slip and fallen trees.

"Te gorge will need to fully close for up to an hour from 9.30am tomorrow to remove a large tree that is posing a risk to the highway.

"Stop/go traffic management will resume once the 30 metre tall tree has been safely brought down by aborists."
