Motorcyclist charged over fatal Tauranga crash

A motorcyclist has been charged with manslaughter following the deaths of two pedestrians in Tauranga in July 2022.

Husband and wife Geoffrey Raymond Boucher, 59, and Karen Jane Boucher, 56, were on a pedestrian crossing on State Highway 2 at Bethlehem, when they were fatally struck by a motorcycle.

'Manslaughter charges have been filed in relation to [the] deaths of Geoffrey and Karen Boucher,” says a police spokesperson.

The crash, involving a motorcycle and the two pedestrians occurred at around 8.30pm on Friday July 22, 2022.

'We are unable to comment further as the matter is before the Court.”

Police and Victim Support continue to support the Bouchers' family.

'Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
