Motorists are advised that night works and a traffic switch may affect traffic between Baypark and Bayfair from Sunday June 18 to Tuesday June 20 says the Baypark to Bayfair Link team.
"As part of Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency's Baypark to Bayfair Link project, CPB Contractors will be undertaking a traffic switch on Matapihi Road at the intersection of Owens Place and approaching Bayfair roundabout," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA Baypark to Bayfair Link team spokesperson.
The team says this traffic switch is required to progress the construction of the intersection, including central traffic islands in the middle of Matapihi Road.
"Following the traffic switch, the new temporary traffic layout is expected to be in place until late winter, at which time another traffic switch will be required to finish construction of this intersection, including a central traffic island in Owens Place."
The work to implement the traffic switch is currently scheduled to take place from Sunday June 18 to Tuesday June 20 2023 from approximately 7pm to 6am each night.

This work is weather-dependent. If it is delayed because of weather or other unforeseen issues, it will be carried out on the next suitable night/s.
While these shifts are underway there will be a single lane closure on Matapihi Road approaching Bayfair roundabout and momentary rolling blocks in both directions on Matapihi Road.
"If you are travelling while this work is underway, please allow extra time and drive with caution through the project site."
Changes to Matapihi Road and Owens Place
Once the new temporary traffic layout is implemented on Matapihi Road - overnight on Monday June 19, a short section of Matapihi Road in front of Golf 360 will be temporarily reduced to a single lane to enable the construction of central traffic islands.
Two lanes will continue to be available approaching Bayfair roundabout.
Drivers are also reminded that the right turn from Matapihi Road onto Owens Place has now permanently closed.
Road users wishing to turn right onto Owens Place from Matapihi Road need to use the Bayfair roundabout, complete a full turn at the roundabout before returning along Matapihi Road and turning left into Owens Place.
"We apologise for any inconvenience or concern this work may cause," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.
If you have any queries regarding this work, or concerns while it is underway, please call 0508 222 4636.
The public can sign up for regular project newsletter updates via the Bay Link website: nzta.govt.nz/baylink and also register for traffic notices at nzta.govt.nz/baylink-traffic.
"Thank you for your patience while we deliver this project,' says a Baypark to Bayfair Link team member.
