A youth has been taken into police custody following a crash near Papamoa.

A police spokesperson says there was a crash at the intersection of Papamoa Beach Road and Palm Beach Road at 12.40am.

"The car had earlier been stolen.

"One youth was taken into police custody and one was taken to hospital to be checked over."

Police say there is nothing to suggest there were any serious injuries in the crash.
