Job seekers are being given the chance to test drive jobs via virtual reality.

The Ministry of Social Development has joined forces with local employers to host the Tauranga Community Employment expo.

A mix of logistics, food production, hospitality, horticulture, and government employers will be on hand to promote work opportunities in their sectors.

Job seekers who are keen to see what’s on offer can head down the Greerton Community Hall, 1257 Cameron Road between 10am and 12.30pm on Thursday, July 27.

People will be able to put on a headset to get a flavour of work in various industries and simulate actual tasks through Virtual Reality.

Job seekers interested in upskilling can talk to training providers about their next move.

“Our clients want to work, and we’re committed to doing everything we can to support them back into employment,” says Bay of Plenty Regional Commissioner for Social Development Mike Bryant.

“Business owners who might be looking at hiring are also welcome to stop by and have a chat about how we can support them with their recruitment needs.

“The expo is free so just pop down.”
