Openning of the Dive Crescent car park in Tauranga has been delayed.

As part of plans to transform the waterfront in Tauranga’s city centre, the Dive Crescent off-street car park is temporarily closed while the upgrade of the parking and amenity in the area takes place, says an update from Tauranga City Council.

"The upgrade works were delayed by water main repairs in Dive Crescent, and the car park will now reopen in early August. While these works continue, the southern end of the car park has been temporarily opened for use.

"Construction is nearing completion on this upgrade. The barriers and road cones installed along the western edge of Dive Crescent will remain in place until construction is complete.

"During works, a temporary closure of the cycle lane and footpath on the western edge of Dive Crescent will be required.

"The road lane width along this section will be narrowed and a reduced speed limit will be in place. At times road access will be restricted to one lane with stop/go management in place. All road users will need to take extra care when travelling in this area."

Council says while the Dive Crescent off-street car park is temporarily closed, the nearby car parks on Cliff Road and The Strand will remain open and available for use.
