UPDATED 7.35AM: Te Puke Highway is closed this morning due to a police operation.

A number of people have contacted SunLive to report police have closed the road between Bell Road and Welcome Bay Road.

A police spokesperson says police are executing a pre-planned police operation on Te Puke Highway, Te Puke.

"Te Puke Highway between Bell Road and Welcome Bay Road is closed.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow diversions.

"Police thank motorists for their patience and cooperation."

Te Puke Highway is reportedly closed this morning.

A number of people have contacted SunLive to report police have closed the road between Bell Road and Welcome Bay Road.

One reader says the road is closed in both directions and people have to detour via Parton Road.
