A magnitude 4.6 earthquake has shaken the Wellington area.
The earthquake struck about 10.41pm 10km southwest of Paraparaumu, according to the GeoNet website.
It was at a depth of 44km.

Nearly 20,000 people have registered feeling it on GeoNet's website.
There are no reports of a tsunami warning, or any major damage so far.
Many people on social media also reported feeling the shake.
