People are being invited to empower their future by navigating the many career options at the region’s biggest careers expo.

Tauranga’s Canvas Careers Expo opens its doors next Thursday and Friday at Mercury Baypark Arena, in what will be the region’s most comprehensive showcase for students exploring their training, study or career options, and for adults looking to upskill, or change careers.

Hosted by Priority One and The Rotary Club of Tauranga, this year’s expo once again features an exciting mix of employers and training providers who can assist with career decisions alongside key industry insiders who provide insight into different career paths.

Priority One’s Instep manager Vee de Koster says this year’s expo themed Future of Work, will profile exciting opportunities across technology, infrastructure, innovation, and sustainability.

“Tauranga is New Zealand’s fastest growing city and with that brings more job opportunities and the need for people with skills to support that growth.

“This year's expo not only highlights the existing array of career pathways but also the yet-to-be-discovered prospects available for job seekers. The future of work presents many untapped opportunities, eagerly awaiting the vision and determination of the next generation.”

Exhibitors this year include Universities and vocational training providers from across New Zealand, as well as businesses and industries representing innovation, engineering, law, New Zealand Defence Force, Māori business, building and construction, horticulture, health and beauty, tourism, and infrastructure and many more.

A highlight this year takes place on Thursday evening from 4pm to 8pm. Hosted by Priority One’s Instep Programme, Manager Vee de Koster says kids and parents are in for a treat with our special panel-style presentations.

“We’ve got three sessions: ‘Green is the new Black’, ‘Real Life Roblox’ and ‘The Robots are Everywhere’. They are fun, interactive, and incredibly insightful sessions, hosted by some industry heavyweights and focussing on sustainability, infrastructure, innovation, and technology. It’s a bonus add-on to this year’s expo and one that we know will be valuable to those who attend.”

The Rotary Club of Tauranga organiser Sue Boyne says the expo is the perfect environment to get informed, get inspired and make crucial job and career decisions.

“Understanding what it’s really like to spend a day in a specific industry is invaluable. The expo gives students and job seekers the chance to get some clarity on their future and make some beneficial connections.”

Free to attend, The Canvas Careers Expo starts next Thursday from 9am to 2pm, with the panel sessions running from 4pm to 8pm then again on Friday from 9am to 2pm.
