Roller Mills primary rugby tournament

The Bay of Plenty Roller Mills team received the expected hard physical workout, when they faced Waikato in their first game of the 2012 Roller Mills Primary Rugby tournament, in Auckland.

While the Bay side had sat on the sideline on the opening day of competition courtesy of the bye, they looked forward to a tough encounter against their long-time rivals on day two.

Head Coach Cliff Honey says it was the hard physical game that we had expected.

'With good decision making and some hard runs on attack which pinned the opposition in their own half, the Bay of Plenty boys led 10-7 at the half way stage of the match.

'In the second spell the boys took the foot off the pedal and didn't execute the basics moves. Missing first up tackles cost us dearly which Waikato punished with a couple of soft tries.” The game finished with the scoreboard showing a 24-10 win to the Waikato team.

The Bay of Plenty try was scored by Levi Hartley with Cody Miln adding a penalty and conversion.

The Head Coach singled out Levi Hartley, Kereopa Hartley and Flynn Kelly as the stand out Bay players.

In spite of the hard fought loss the team are extremely confident and have the semi-finals well in their sights.

On Day Three they square off against King Country.
