Police have arrested and charged a second man with manslaughter over the death of Michael James Mulholland, 52, of Taita on September 20.

Operation Field inquiry head Detective Inspector Darrin Thomson says a 31-year-old Paraparaumu man would appear on the charge in the Lower Hutt District Court later today.

A 30-year-old Lower Hutt man was also yesterday charged with manslaughter in connection to the death and was remanded in custody without plea.

'I'd like to acknowledge the assistance of the local community in helping Police to bring this matter before the courts.

'While we can't bring Michael back, we are hopeful that a successful resolution to this case will bring some closure to his family and reassure the community.”

Darrin says Police would not comment further while matters were now before the court.
